Dear Citizen:
The members of the Oran Fire Protection District are dedicated to protecting and serving you, your
family and your property. We take great pride and satisfaction in providing our community a high level of service. We have
a professional department which is staffed completely by volunteers.
We do not however, always do a good job of telling
people about who we are, the things we do or the challenges we face in fulfilling our mission. Many times, when we tell people
what fire equipment costs, or how much time we spend training, or that we do not get paid for what we do, they are amazed.
We created this website for a number of reasons:
- to answer questions many of you have about the department and its volunteers: we have included fact sheets on the department
history, how we are organized, what the department does, how volunteers spend thier time, what kind of training we receive,
what kind of vehicles we use, what kind of protective equipment we wear, how much things cost.
- to let you know how to get more information about any aspect of the department's operations.
- to make you aware of needs for the department and how you may assist us in improving our ability to serve our fellow citizens.
Thank you for the support you have shown us in the past, and for taking time time to learn about our department. If you
have any questions or need additional information please contact me at 573-262-2216 or another member of our department.
If you prefer you can also e-mail the dept. at oranfire@showme.net
Sincerely,
Jim Watkins Fire Chief Oran Fire Protection District
